Sam De Nef is a Belgian singer-songwriter and composer based in Antwerp. Known for his introspective songwriting and timeless folk sound, Sam crafts music that blends emotional depth with sparse, atmospheric arrangements. His work draws comparisons to Leonard Cohen, Nick Drake, Elliot Smith, yet retains a distinct and original voice.

After fronting the indie band Danny Blue, Sam launched his solo career with the 2020 EP Lonely Day, Crowded Year. His debut full-length album Dawn / Dusk (2022, Unday Records) earned critical acclaim for its warm, nostalgic storytelling and collaborations with artists like Tenci, Camille Camille. The album was co-produced by Pieter-Jan Decraene and features members of the Belgian alternative scene, including Nicolas Rombouts, Justine Bourgeus (Tsar B) and James De Graef (Loverman).

Sam’s live performances have captivated audiences at festivals and venues such as Pukkelpop, Boomtown, Ancienne Belgique, Eurosonic, and Folkfestival Dranouter. With a focus on emotional honesty, lyrical subtlety, and musical restraint, Sam De Nef continues to evolve as one of Belgium’s most promising voices in contemporary folk.
